Connect Discord

Link your Discord account, and your Discord conversations appear in Element as rooms.

Before you start

• You need a Discord account and its login.
• Open Element on a computer if you can. Signing in is easier with a large screen and the Discord app or website at hand.

Link Discord

1. In Element, start a direct chat with @discordbot:<your server>. Your server address is on your dashboard under Your Matrix login → Server.
2. Send the message login.
3. Read the bot's reply carefully and follow its steps one by one. If you need the instructions again, send help.
4. Wait for the bot to confirm that you are signed in.

Your Discord conversations then start to appear in Element as rooms.

Good to know

• Each person links their own account. Your colleagues don't see your Discord chats.
• Your Discord apps keep working. You can go on using Discord as before.
• Unlink: send logout to discordbot.

If something goes wrong

• The bot doesn't answer: check that you typed the full bot address, and look at the bridge status in the portal under Settings → Bridges.
• The login didn't finish: send login again and start over.
• Messages stopped arriving: see A bridge stopped working.
