The AI assistant @ai is optional. Nothing is sent to it unless you write to it. Here is what that means for your data.
What the AI sees
- Messages you send to
@aiin a direct chat are processed by an AI model so it can answer you. - In a room,
@aiis a member like anyone else, so it receives that room's messages. It answers when you mention it, and when you ask it to search the room history, it uses that history to answer you. - Files and images you send to
@aiare processed so it can read and describe them.
What the AI doesn't see
- Direct chats and rooms where
@aiis not a member. - Your recovery key and your password.
Using it with care
- Think about what you share, as with any online service. If a chat contains very sensitive information, you can keep
@aiout of that room. - If
@aiis in a room, everyone in the room can see the questions and answers there. - To remove
@aifrom a room, remove it like any other member in the room settings.
