Link your Instagram account, and your Instagram direct messages appear in Element as rooms. This is handy if your business answers customers on Instagram.
Before you start
- You need your Instagram login.
- Open Element on a computer if you can. Signing in is easier there.
Link Instagram
- In Element, start a direct chat with
@instagrambot:<your server>. Your server address is on your dashboard under Your Matrix login → Server. - Send the message
login. - Read the bot's reply and sign in exactly as it instructs, one step at a time.
- Wait for the bot to confirm that you are signed in.
Your Instagram direct messages then start to appear in Element as rooms.
Good to know
- Each person links their own account. If several colleagues answer the business account, decide who links it.
- Instagram may ask you to confirm the new login. If you get a security notice from Instagram, confirm that it was you.
- Unlink: send
logouttoinstagrambot.
If something goes wrong
- The login didn't finish: send
loginagain and start over. - Messages stopped arriving: Instagram sometimes ends logins. Send
